Made in Poland Festival - Tymoteusz Sułek

Tymoteusz Sulek (born on 9 Oct 1989) is an Art & Design student at Gateshead College. He studies sculpture, graphics as well as photography. His greatest passion, however, is drawing, which he has been interested in since his childhood. He continues to improve his technique and experiments with various drawing methods. Just before arriving in England in 2008, the artist became interested in computer graphic design, thanks to which he has discovered new possibilities of creating a fantasy world. Most of the time he begins his graphic design work with hand drawn pictures that are scanned, and then colourised on the computer. It is the work done on the computer that brings out from the pictures an exceptional depth and colour saturation. Thanks to this, the drawings become more dynamic obtaining a completely new quality.

Tymoteusz’s works are inspired mainly by films, computer games and books. I never try to show realistic things, says the artist, I used to like fantasy very much but recently I’ve been aiming more and more towards science-fiction. This is why the surreal world full of demons and unimaginable structures emerges in his works. Each movement of the pencil and each colour applied is a carefully thought through composition, where nothing happens by chance. This exhibition is a must see not only because of the uniqueness of the theme but mainly because of the technique, which despite the young age of the artist impresses with its precision and attention to detail.

An auction of T-shirts designed by the artist will take place during the preview night on 27th June. The proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting the activities of International Community Organization of Sunderland (ICOS), the organizer of the exhibition.
