PL Photo Project launch
The overall aim of the project was to investigate the characteristics and perceptions of the identities of Polish people living in the North East of England.
This was achieved by getting to know people, finding out about what they do, their motivations and what gets them out of bed in the morning! Photographs were created and then exhibited at the Gospoda Polish restaurant in Newcastle. The launch night on 18th June formed part of the Made in Poland Festival and an unprecedented number of people turned out to look at the photos and enjoy the unique venue. We also enjoyed a few songs from Asia and Craig to promote their charity CD.
The event brought people from a variety of nations and cultures together; everyone talked, drank and had a good time. The restaurant was so packed full of people that at one point it took me 15 minutes to get from the entrance to the bar – everyone wanted to say hello and compliment the photographs – for this I am very thankful. Many of the people in the photos came too – this was their work as much as mine.
I’d like to thank everyone who came for looking at the photos, reading the captions, talking to people and having fun. Thank you!
The photographs will remain at the Gospoda for a few more weeks and then may move elsewhere in the North East. If you would like to see the photos online, as well as photos that didn’t make it to the exhibition, please go to:
